The Atholl Approach is a new innovative method which has been designed to support organisations to provide a gold standard level of care to individuals struggling with trauma. The framework prioritises the relationship between the service user and the organisation and reduces an organisations need to be solely reliant on the training and knowledge of its employees.

The approach is based on the idea that trauma survivors need more than just understanding—they need a system that actively supports their journey through recovery in a flexible and transparent way. It was originally designed for Trauma Healing Together and has been incorporated into every aspect of the work we do. Throught its application, the charity has achieved excellent client outcomes and below average drop-out rates.

Trauma Healing Together is passionate about creating a society which has been designed from the ground up to be inclusive of the needs ot trauma survivors and creates an environment that in itself fosters safety, trust, and healing. We do this by supporting organisations to embed trauma informed processes into the infrastructure of their service and helping them to meet the standards required to become 'Atholl Approach Informed'.

More information about the theoretical background of the Atholl Approach can be found here.

•    Reduces dropout rates.
•    Increases service-user engagement.

How can my organisation become Atholl Approach Informed?

We have developed an audit process which requires organisations to provide evidence that they have embedded the 9 principles into their work and therefore meet the requirements to become 'Atholl Approach Informed'. This process has been developed in partnership with our clients and requires an organisation to complete an application form.

For organisations who do not currently meet the requirements, we are able to provide consultancy and training support which takes roughly 6 months.
